An immediate rebate is a fine thing, but mail-in rebates are NOT!
What the people who issue rebates do not tell you is that there is a very high ratio of rebates that are never turned in.
Sure they can say that this is the customers fault (it is) but why should you have to go through the hassle?
If you want to give me a low price then just give it to me.
Another thing about rebates is in most cases it is the manufacturer who may be giving you the rebate.
The store is still collecting the full price and making the normal margin.
The other thing about rebates is how often when you apply for one do you have to chase it?
If a store was sincere about it they would file for the rebate for you and then track it for you and keep you updated.
When is the last time anyone heard of that happening?
It does not happen because if all rebate programs issued payment for all the rebates there would be a lot fewer rebates.
